UK CBAM
UK CBAM: are your imports in scope?
From 1 January 2027, the UK carbon border adjustment mechanism puts a carbon price on imports of aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen, and iron and steel. If you import £50,000 or more of these goods in 12 months, you'll need to register with HMRC and report the emissions embedded in them.
Key dates: it covers goods imported from 1 January 2027. For the first year, register by 31 January 2028. Your first return, for 2027, is due by 31 May 2028. From 2028, returns are quarterly.
How we help: the CBAM Readiness Check (£1,950, five working days) tells you which of your goods are in scope, your estimated liability and registration date, a plan for getting emissions data from your suppliers, and the registration steps in order. The CBAM supplier data review (£695 per factory) checks what each supplier sends you.
This is a readiness check, not accredited verification of your suppliers' emissions.
